Long-Term UK Work Visas

Skilled Worker Visa – Main route. Requires valid employer sponsorship, minimum salary £41,700 per annum (as of July 2025), and RQF Level 6+. Valid for 5 years, extendable, leads to ILR.

Health and Care Worker Visa – For nurses, doctors, adult social care professionals. Requires job offer from NHS or approved supplier. Valid 5 years, extendable, leads to ILR.

Global Business Mobility Routes – Intra-company Transfer visa (minimum £41,500) and Graduate Trainee visa (minimum £23,000). For existing employees transferred to UK.

Short-Term UK Work Visas

UK Global Talent Visa – For leaders in tech, science, arts, engineering, medicine, academia. Requires endorsement from approved body (UKRI, Royal Society, Tech Nation). No job offer needed, valid up to 5 years, ILR after 3-5 years.

High Potential Individual (HPI) Visa – For graduates of top global universities within last 5 years. No job offer needed. Bachelor’s/Master’s: 2 years; PhD: 3 years. Cannot extend but can switch to Skilled Worker.

Temporary Work – Charity Worker Visa (unpaid voluntary work). Creative Worker Visa (job offer as creative). Government Authorized Exchange Visa (sponsorship, approved scheme). International Agreement Visa (contract under international law).

Youth Mobility Scheme Visa – Age 18-30, for citizens of specific countries, stay up to 2 years.

Graduate Visa – For UK graduates: 2 years (18 months from Jan 2027), PhD: 3 years. Cannot extend; switch to other visa types.
